...She's just a stay-at-home mom.
It bothers me that men who claim to be LDS believe that women shouldn't get a say in finances or the size of the house because...
...She isn't working.
It seems wrong that motherhood isn't unanimously the most revered and important role/job on the planet...
...instead it is seen as a cop-out or the easy road.
It just irritates and infuriates me beyond words and I'm not a mother yet. I feel like women shouldn't feel like they have to prove anything or explain themselves if they choose motherhood over the corporate latter. A woman shouldn't have to be the perfect maid, cook, and mother to prove her worth.
I wish I had a cure for ignorance or a skin thick enough to ensure others opinions didn't get to me.
I wish I could write the words that would change the world's perception.
Amen!
ReplyDeleteSo true. I often have to redirect my own thoughts about my current roles and remind myself that I'm doing the most important job there is. I think what makes it most difficult is the inability to quantify success in the home. our world is obsessed with quantifying achievement. I strongly believe that mothers have the most potential for positive impact in the world but it too often goes unappreciated, even by ourselves and our families. Perhaps if women better respected their own roles as wives and mothers, the rest if the world would regain that same respect.
